International Federation of Accountants

· IFAC is a non-profit, non-government, non-political international organization of accountancy body.

· Membership in IFAC is open to accountancy bodies recognized by law/consensus within their countries as substantial national organizations of good standing.

· ACCA is one of the members of IFAC.

· Each member sends one representative to form a council which elects members of IFAC Board and determines basis for financial contributions.

· The board is comprised of a president plus representatives from 16 countries who are reelected every 3 years and are mainly to supervise IFAC's work program.

· IFAC forms various Committees such as Compliance Committee, Ethics Committee, Transnational Auditors Committee to carry out IFAC's work program.

· The mission of IFAC is to serve the public interest, strengthen the global accountancy profession and contribute to the development of strong international economies by:

√Establishing and promoting adherence to high-quality professional standards;

√Furthering the international convergence of such standards;

√Speaking out on public interest issues where the profession's expertise is most relevant.
